Keep Checking this site!
Well, I posted last Thursday and gave everyone an opportunity to earn a few extra credit points on their safety test and NO ONE LEFT A COMMENT. So now this is a homework assignment.
We have taken the safety test, and completed our first lab - delicious French Toast. Next up - Quick Breads and Yeast Breads!
Homework assignment: Comment on this post with your first name and initial. Answer the following question:
What are puffed up individual breads that are leavened primarily by the natural action of steam??? (This was not talked about in class this year, but was discussed last year when we went over the Principles of Baking. Hint: They are made using the picture shown. ) Comments need to be made by Friday, August 31st, 5:00pm.

Safety Test and French Toast
Thursday, August 23rd is SAFETY TEST day, and also our first lab is scheduled!! French Toast!! Yum! Study and think about the safety information we have been reviewing the past few days. If you still have papers from last year - take a look at those again too! I told you not to throw anything away. You need to pass with 85% or better in order to cook tomorrow and you won't want to miss "Emeril"s Favorite French Toast"! To help your test score, comment on this post about what your favorite breakfast food is, leave your first name and last initial and you will earn 2 points added to your test score. Comments need to be made by Thursday, 10:00am to earn those 2 extra points. My favorite breakfast is a potato, egg, bacon, onion, cheese latka!

Welcome to Exploring Culinary II - formerly known as Advanced Foods! This is a first for me, and I am so happy to have an actual Advanced class this year. I have about 25 cooking labs planned for this semester (all different recipes from last year) as well as a few fun activities I think you will enjoy! Like last year, we will be reviewing safety information first and you will need to pass a safety test with at least an 85% or better before cooking, and we will be cooking next week!
